12/06/10. As you should (hopefully) be able to tell, the first phase of the new website design has now gone live. If you've found something that doesn't work, please click here to report it. (Yes, I know it's terribly rude to complain, but unless you tell me there's a problem I won't know about it and hence won't be able to fix it.)
To celebrate this, we've a caption competition running - based on something 'orrible I found on my camera after the Warwickshire 100 shoot. ::o)

07/06/10. The Prone section had a bumper turnout at the Warwickshire 100 shoot at Wedgnock yesterday! Various people went home with prizes of the brown, foaming liquid variety (and some silverware) - also good to see a very keen competition developing for the Periam Tankard.

The OSRC at the Warwickshire 100 shoot

Apologies if you're not in the photo - we did make an effort to catch as many OSRC people as possible before they ran away - and many thanks to Keith's missus for acting as photographer!

10/11/09. Sport England have now published the results of a Sport Satisfaction Survey carried out in early 2009. This covered, amongst other sports, shooting and the results (in death-by-powerpoint format) can be downloaded here. One interesting point is that (slide 7) shooters appear to be one of the most satisfied groups of sportspeople surveyed - this in a sport with very little appearing in the way of new or upgraded facilities, in which it is near-impossible to publicise even truly outstanding achievements and in which newcomers get scared off by the paperwork before even stepping through the door. One can only wonder where they got their survey pool from . . .

01/10/09. All LSR dates are now up for the winter season . . . good luck!

14/09/09. Last shooting dates are now up for the winter 2009/2010 season for the LSR Midland League.

23/01/09. Sadly, Lycos have made the decision to close their web-hosting services in the very near future. That means that this site will be moving: we don't know where to yet, but it is going to be moving soon. Please keep an eye on the range noticeboards for our new web address.

21/01/09. Due to the low number of entries so far, the closing date for the Young Cup Straight has been extended to the 10th of February. Please make an effort to shoot this - I know four cards sounds like a lot but it's all good practice!

07/01/09. A happy (and hopefully accurate) New Year to all members. You should by now have had a letter reminding you to pay your subs for 2009 - please do this promptly, or Dave and Martin will be coming after you with a big stick each!

20/10/08. Last shooting dates are up for the winter season - good luck and good shooting!

29/07/08. The closing date for the Doble Shield (club pairs) has been extended until 12th August due to low entries so far. Come on, you 'orrible lot . . . it's only one card and you can always blame your partner if you don't do well!

07/04/08. If anyone would like to try full-bore shooting, Kings Heath RC have spare some places on some of their upcoming Bisley shoots which they would be happy for us to fill - see the prone page for more details.

07/04/08. We are trying to put together a full set of back issues of "The Rifleman" (to be kept in the range for reference), but we're still missing issues 669, 762, 763, 764 and 766. If you've got any of these lurking in a pile of old magazines at home, perhaps you could consider donating?

03/04/08. Just to remind everybody, the AGM is on Thursday 17th April. Please make an effort to attend - this is your opportunity to find out what's happening, have your say in the running of the club and, of course, sample whatever the OSA currently have by way of a guest beer!

26/02/08. A well-attended and enjoyable social last night - many thanks to Clive and Gordon for organising. People who didn't come, you missed a good 'un!

20/02/08. If you have any club trophies, please return them to the cupboard - a prompt return would be appreciated as it makes it much easier to get them engraved in time for the AGM.

29/01/08. As you're probably aware, the UK is to host the Olympic Games in 2012. One of the benefits of doing this is that the sporting facilities constructed or upgraded to enable this to happen then remain in-situ for the long-term benefit of UK sportspeople. However, the plan for the shooting events is to provide temporary facilities which will be removed at the conclusion of the games, providing relatively little long-term benefit for the sport compared to, for example, construction of a new permanent venue or investment in improving the existing facilities at Bisley. To bring this to the attention of the powers that be, there's an e-petition here. The e-petition system, while relatively new, does work (you need to click the link in the email it sends you), so please have a read and consider signing up.

29/01/08. Advance warning - the Davis cup will be shot on 17th and 19th February. It's a very picturesque-looking pot, and a fine addition to any mantlepiece (!), so why not enter this year?

22/01/08. One for your diaries - we have a club social night coming up on Monday 25th February. The format will be a Name-Own-Start LSR competition followed in traditional fashion by beer and pies in the clubhouse. For more details, see Clive.

04/01/08. A happy (and hopefully accurate ::o) New Year to all members! You should all have had a membership renewal letter by now, so please pay your subs promptly!

17/10/07. Congratulations to those of the LSR side who've made the county teams - Adrian in the 'A' team, Harry, Matt and Luke in the junior team, and Rob and Tom as junior reserves. Good luck, all!

15/10/07. The power lead has gone missing off the kettle - please check you haven't accidentally packed it into your kitbag.

10/8/07. It's time for us to submit our report for the Silhillian Magazine 2007-2008. If you've got any good ideas, photos, items you think should be included etc, please contact Clive. (NB: The report has to be in by the end of August, so a prompt response would be appreciated!)

24/7/07. Due to the low number of entries so far, the closing date for the Doble Cup (Club Pairs) has been extended to 28th August. It's only one card, it's a handicap competition so everyone stands a reasonable chance of winning, and if you don't do very well you can always blame your partner . . . so come on, why not enter?

04/7/07. Keith has very kindly donated a club kettle. This is now in a box in the target cupboard - water can be obtained from the tap on the outside of the changing rooms. We do, however, need some mugs to go with it - please can you all have a look through the recesses of your kitchen cupboards and consider donating any redundant mugs.

16/4/07. Just to remind people, we have an invite from the Muzzle Loaders (Warks branch) to to join them for a talk on the Eley company from Bill Harding, Master of the Gun Barrel Proof House, on Thursday 19th April. Meet at the range 7.25pm, see Clive for further details.

24/1/07. Advance warning - the Davis Cup will be shot on 25th and 27th February this year. Please make an effort to compete!

26/9/06. Many thanks to everyone who turned out to make last night's event a definite success! For the record, we *just* beat David Charles RC, the social lubricant flowed freely and a good time was had by all. Thanks once again to the LSR section and especially to Clive for organising.

9/8/06. One to put in your diaries for the future - on Monday 25th September, at 7.30pm, it is proposed that we have a shoulder-to-shoulder match against David Charles Rifle Club. There is however, one slight catch - the two teams, both drawn from the prone rifle shooters of the two clubs, will be shooting LSR! The results will no doubt be suitably comical, and the intention is to round off the evening with some social lubricant in the bar, so it should be an entertaining and lively night out.
To make it happen, however, we need people. If you're an LSR shooter and would like to assist with running the competition, see Clive. If you're a prone shooter and want to be on the team - we need a team of 6 plus 2 (shooting) reserves - see Liz.
As with all social events, the more the merrier - get involved and see if we can make it a night to remember!

8/8/06. Due to the low number of entries so far, the closing date for the first round of the club pairs has been extended to 29th August. Please make every effort to enter this - it is a handicap competition which means that you are still in with a good chance no matter how bad a shot you think you are!

1/8/06. Many thanks to all those involved in the working party on 29th July! Substantial work completed on the butts, range de-leaded, new external covers on the ventilation fans. Big pats on the back to everyone who turned up and supplied everything from engineering skills to paint.
